Hello! My name is Tyler, but my friends call me Ty. I’m a brand strategist and writer specializing corporate citizenship, sustainability, and social impact.
I’ve tackled strategic challenges alongside a diverse range of clients and industries. Highlights include: serving as the strategic lead for corporate citizenship and integrated reporting for Southwest Airlines; refreshing a consumer-facing responsible drinking platform for one of the world’s largest spirits companies, Beam Suntory; and co-leading the development of “The IP Way Forward”, International Paper’s strategic framework to be among the most successful, sustainable, responsible companies in the world.
I have extensive experience in integrated and non-financial annual reporting, and have been certified in sustainability reporting through the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
I also have a strong background in social-impact and community-based organizations, having served as the Executive Director of Barrio Logan College Institute — an award-winning college prep program serving first-generation college students and their families — and as Manager of Business and Community Relations for a community health coalition. I currently serve on the board of Casa de Amistad, an after school program serving Latino students and families in coastal north county San Diego.
I’m active in the cancer survivor/support community, where I serve as a community advocate for the Padres Pedal, a charity cycling event raising funds for cancer research; and an advisor to Family Proud, a San Diego-based startup working to help patients and families more effectively manage the burden of life-threatening illness.
When I’m not at work, I prefer to be on my bicycle, in the kitchen, or working on my #dadbod with my wife Natasha and our two incredibly smart/talented/beautiful children.
